Iklimler

Nuri Bilge Ceylan is award winning filmmaker from Turkey. He works with small budget and most of the time his relatives and friends act in the film. In Climate or Iklimler (Turkish) He himself play the role of Isa and his real wife plays the role of his wife Bahar. The film follows the climatic changes in their relationships.

What really impressed me about this film is it's cinematography and editing. Usually the modern realistic films go for handheld camera, and the camera keeps moving which involves the viewer into the story for example L'Enfant. But in this film even though it's very realistic the camera is always on the tripod and static, I think it's the motionlessness of camera which gives authenticity to this film. The director manages to create drama from very boring characters and he could do it only because he must have very good eye for human behavior.

I usually don't like this kind of slow and minimlistic   cinema, but once in a while comes films like this which I enjoy.
